Obituary of Robert E. "Bob" Carroll

Robert Earl “Bob” Carroll, 77, of Amesbury, died Monday evening surrounded by his family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Lord) Carroll with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He was born in Andover, MA on May 27, 1931, the son of the late Walter and Mary (Martin) Carroll and was raised in New Hampshire. He later resided in Malden and Peabody before moving to Amesbury 9 years ago. Bob was the proprietor of Steve’s Corner Variety Store in Malden for 15 years. Later, he worked as a security officer with Excalibur Security Co. in NH. He then became a sales person with Wal -Mart Store in Seabrook N.H. for 5 years prior to his illness. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US. Army prior to his discharge in 1952 and was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid Bruin and Red Sox fan and enjoyed the mountains of New Hampshire. He also liked listening to Country Western Music. Surviving him besides his wife are a son, Christopher Carroll of Derry, NH, two daughters, Debora Pettengill of Stoneham and Cheryl Carroll of Andover, three grandchildren, Stacy Carroll of Andover and Robert and Christine Pettengill of Stoneham, a brother John Carroll of Easton, PA and a sister, Ethel Carney of Malden, MA and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter D. Carroll, Edward Carroll, Shirley Reichard and Evelyn Girlack. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Service at 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
