Our neighborhood will just not be the same with the loss of our friend, Les. A couple of years ago we lost our other neighbor, Norman. To lose another friend and neighbor is devastating to both of us. Les was always a great neighbor and a better friend. He certainly has touched many people in many ways. Les was one of the nicest, most genuine, caring, considerate human beings you would ever want to know. He truly was a "salt of the earth" person. Our condolences to Cathy, the Pommer and Lee families. We share your loss.

I am totally shocked. I was looking up another death notice on Conway when I say Les. My wife and I worked out at Nautilus Plus for years and I talked with Les about his Corvette and UCONN basketball. We usually talked more than we worked out. I was amazed at Les and his endurance for aerobics. I wish his family deep strength as Les was quite a great guy.

Catherine and Families: Please accept my condolences. I am a retiree and had the pleasure of working with Les on several projects at GE some years ago. It was a shock to learn of his passing via the local newspaper. I join in your prayer that Les’s spirit be eternally at peace. I tell the following to show a glimpse of the goodness of Les: During our efforts on the LM1600 project my two week summer vacation coincided with lab vibration testing of my component. Les agreed to monitor the test in my absence and I vacationed expecting all to be routinely successful. When I returned, Les calmly described to me that an unexpected condition on the component caused it to fail very prematurely. Les took charge and envisioned plus implemented a simple rework/fix which successfully passed a retest? all during my absence. There was no emotional outburst for the poor situation I left him; no demanding he be credited with the solution he gave me; no loss of rapport between us. Les combined gentleness with firmness and clarity of vision; he was a gifted engineer. His passing is a loss for all whose lives he touched.
Andy Gabriel
I worked with Les for about 20 years at GE, from the time I was a new engineer. In the beginning, I was impressed by his knowledge and diligence. As I grew to know him better, I learned to respect his patience, good judgement, and clear thinking. He was always friendly and respectful. He was a good mentor to less experienced people. Les will be greatly missed at GE, for his knowledge and for his helpful and positive attitude.

Cathy,

I do not have to tell you how much Ella will miss her baby brother. How I will miss our spirited tech talks about why my Dodge Viper is better than his Chevy Corvette. Ella and I know he is in a better place but he will always be in our hearts. Whenever I am driving the Viper he will be in my thoughts.
