Obituary of Howard Sabean
Howard Sabean, 91, of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Hunt Retirement and Nursing Center in Danvers after a short illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Newcomb) Sabean with whom he shared 57 years of marriage. He was born in Lynn ,Ma on July 8, 1917 the son of the late Bertie and Laura (Woodward) Sabean and was raised and educated there graduating from Lynn English High School in the Class of 1935.
He then entered the Civalian Conservation Corps working on various projects in Massachusetts including the Clubhouse at the now Gannon Golf Course in Lynn. Howard later entered the U.S. Army air corps in 1941 and served for four years during WW 11 prior to his discharge in 1945.
Howard was a tool and dye maker with the United Dye Company of Danvers for 35 years retiring in 1982. He was a resident of Peabody for the past 25 years.
Howard enjoyed roller skating at the different rinks at Nahant and at Topsfield. He also liked following the local sports teams and enjoyed doing his puzzles.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Jean Sabean of Danvers, a sister, Eva Mauch of Arizona , two granddaughters, Amy and Alison Sabean of Danvers and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the George and Lester Sabean, Alice Anderson, Hazel Sabean and Grace Richards.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Monday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Thea Keith Lucas of Calvary Episcopal Church, Danvers officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Alzheimers Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
