Obituary of William A. Connolly

William A. Connolly, 87, of Boxford and formerly of Lynn, died Saturday at his residence surrounded by his family after a year long illness with cancer. He was born in Lynn, MA on February 12, 1922, the son of the late William A. and Mildred (Hayford) Connolly and was raised and educated there graduating from Lynn English in 1939. He continued his education with a degree in Accounting from Bryant and Stratton School, Boston. He started his career in the Insurance Industry in 1944 working at the Met Life Ins. Company until 1952. He then, along with his partner, Harold Foster, founded the Foster and Connolly Insurance Agency in Lynn. He bought out his partner in 1961 and then started the Connolly Insurance Agency in Lynn and then moved to South Peabody working there right up to the last month. He had been a member of the Mass. Association of Independent Insurance Agents. William was an avid sport enthusiast, playing golf at the Gannon Golf Club in Lynn and also tennis in his earlier years. He loved watching and cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots. He is survived by his wife, Ellie A. (Annal) Connolly of Boxford, a daughter, Meaghan Connolly and her husband, Luke Kramer of Lynn, 2 brother-in-laws , Michael E. Annal and his wife Mary of Pelham, NH and John P. Annal of Spokane, WA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5- 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
