Obituary of Eugene R. "Gene" Connors

Eugene R. “Gene” Connors, 78, a retired Captain of the Peabody Fire Department, died peacefully Friday morning, June 11, 2010 at his home with his family around him. He was the husband of Marilyn (Jermyn) Connors with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. He was born in Lynn, MA on July 2, 1931, the son of the late Patrick and Catherine (Kane) Connors and had resided most of his life in Peabody. He was a graduate of Peabody High School and had served with the US Army Reserve from 1949 until his discharge in 1991. Gene had been a member of the Peabody Fire Department for 31 years starting in 1956 and retiring as a Captain in 1987. He was one of three brothers that served as members of the Peabody Fire Department that dedicated there lives in serving the citizenry of Peabody. He had been an active member for many years with the A.O.H., Div. 11 of Peabody. He enjoyed skiing and sailing in the Caribbean and taking trips up to New Brunswick, Canada. His most cherished time was spent being with his family enjoying the relationships of his devoted wife, his children, grandchildren and his siblings. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy M. and Rosemary Connors of Peabody, two daughters, Deborah Connors and her partner Wilfred Marquez of Peabody and Kim Connors of Wells, ME, his two brothers, Frank Connors and John “Jack” Connors both of Peabody, a sister, Helen Murdoch of No Andover, MA, his five grandchildren, Joshua Krisko, Casey Connors and Catherine Connors all of Peabody, Amy Wood of Salem and William Connors and his wife Katie of No Andover, a great grandson, Mason Patrick Murphy of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Connors, Patricia La Plante, and William and Raymond Connors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., West Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
