Obituary of Vincent A. "Vinnie" Raponi

Vincent A. Vinnie Raponi 76 years, husband for 54 years of Marion Marney (Nicolo) Raponi of Peabody formerly of Saugus and Revere, died at home after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family and close friends. Mr. Raponi was born August 10, 1928 in Revere son of the late Antonio and Rose (Visca) Raponi. He was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School class of 1948. He pursued his education on a football scholarship at Louisiana State. He served from 1951 to 1953 as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his tour of duty he remained in the USAR. He was honorably discharged in 1957. Mr. Raponi retired with over 40 years in Sales. Vinnie was then employed for the past 10 years at Suffolk Downs. He was very active in Peabody City Politics and served as Councilor at Large for 10 years. Mr. Raponi was a member of the Peabody Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508 in Peabody. He served as President of the Saugus Rotary and was a Past District Governor 1975 - 1976. He was recently named the distinguished Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International. His entire life was dedicated to his family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he has been a wonderful father to his 3 daughters and their husbands and to his son and his companion, Rosanne and William Bakos of Westford, Ann-Marie and Timothy O’ Keefe, Vincent A. Raponi Jr. and Mary Larrabee, Toni A. and Scott Dixon all of Peabody; the brother of Theresa King of Revere and Sonny Raponi of FL formerly of Revere; a devoted Papa to Vincent A. III, Nicholas V. and Cody C. Raponi all of Peabody, Jonathan W. Bakos of Westford and Sarah E. O’ Keefe of Peabody. Also has many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was pre deceased by his siblings, Joseph, Christie and Anthony Raponi and Dolly Ferraro and a daughter-in-law, Judith A. (Cody) Raponi. His funeral will be held Monday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
