Obituary of Astrene "Eva" (Papastathis) Trimmins

Astrene “Eva” (Papastathis) Trimmins, 88, of Beverly, formerly of Lynn and Woburn, died Saturday at the Essex Park Rehabilitation Center in Beverly after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Peter J. Trimmins Sr. She was born in Woburn, MA on December 7, 1922, the daughter of the late Panayeotes and Vasiliki (Papastaffidas) Papastathis and was raised and educated there. She had resided in Lynn before moving to Peabody in 1971. Eva was a graduate of the Mansfield Beauty Academy of Boston in 1941. She had been a hairdresser at Esther’s Beauty Salon in Woburn for many years. Later she had been employed as a floor lady at the Bensen Shoe Company of Lynn prior to her retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, Chapter 1 of Boston. While in Peabody, she was a volunteer at the Peabody Council on aging and was also a life member of the WW 11 Memorial Society. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John P. Trimmins of Peabody and Peter J. and JoAnn Trimmins Jr. of Gloucester, a grandson, Jason P. Trimmins of Rockport and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Arthur Papastathis, Esther Roumelis, and Irene Barbas. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 until 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody MA facility followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek orthodox Church, Peabody at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
