Obituary of Hubert R Quinn
Hubert R. Quinn, 86, of Peabody and formerly of Saugus, died Monday evening at his home following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Claire (Hoffman) who passed away on February 13, 2011. They had shared 58 years of marriage together this past December.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Edward and Florence (Renault) Quinn. He was raised in Saugus and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. He then attended Boston University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, where he received his degree in mechanical engineering.
Hubert was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army. After the war, Hubert owned and operated Magne Coil in Middleton and Industrial Coils Inc. in Peabody.
Hubert enjoyed playing tennis and traveling with his wife. During his career as electrical magnetic engineer, he made well over 40 trips throughout Europe, including Switzerland and Germany.
He is survived by his daughter, Candace Quinn of Cos Cob, CT., two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Quinn and his wife Marianne Ficaro of Lynnfield, and Dr. Curtis and Janel Quinn of Brookfield, WI, and his siblings, Edith Sadowski of Bonita Springs, FL., Edwin Quinn of Topsfield, Neil Quinn of Danvers, and Phil and his wife Patti Quinn of North Andover, and is also survived by 8 grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Salem St., Lynnfield to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody
