PEABODY—Prudence I. (Lipsett) Shields, 102, beloved wife of the late Raymond Shields, died peacefully at her home on Friday afternoon May 13, 2011.
Born in Ireland, she was the daughter of the late Hamilton and Mary Lipsett. She came to the United States in 1923, and settled in North Reading for many years before moving to Peabody in 1967 where she lived the last 44 years.
Mrs. Shields enjoyed many crafts. She was talented making sweaters, doing embroidery, knitting, sewing, gardening, and many things around the home. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Peabody.
She is survived by her son Raymond A. Shields of Peabody; two daughters, Lillian & her husband Terrence Lane of South Carolina and June & her husband Thomas Higgins of Litchfield, NH; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She had seven siblings precede her in death.
A Graveside Funeral Ceremony will be held on Wednesday May 18, 2011 at 11:30 AM in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Chestnut St. Ext., Peabody, MA 01960. Funeral planned with Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
