May 24, 2011

Dear Mary's Family,

I am sorry to hear about your beloved mother's passing. I am sure her transition to the spirit side of life was effortless and she was greated by all of her loved ones there. I have known Mary since the mid-1980s through the Salem and Swampscott Churches of Spiritualism and attending development classes which she taught in her home at Peabody. She was my teacher, my mentor, and my friend. I have very fond memories of our gatherings after church services with the Rev Dr. Earl Myers and his wife Ida, her close friend John Lignos, Jim Anastopolous, and others where we all shared in the beautiful energy that was your mother: good conversation, wisdom and guidance, and of course much laughter. I only knew Mary to have good things to say about others, even when others were not kind to her. She always had a positive attitude. Mary was a very special human being who gave much unconditionally. I am sure that all the good works she accomplished on this side of life will continue on the other side of life. I believe that the best things are yet to come for the Rev. Mary Maguire. God Bless all of you and always celebrate in the light and love of your mother's life.

With Deepest Sympathy,
Steven Quintiliani

To the family of Mary,
For those of us that knew her and loved her, we knew she was someone special. She touched our lives like no other. Several years ago I returned to Peabody and went to visit her. Her illness was quite progressed at that time and I got to spend about an hour with her. I am grateful i had that time with her though it was painful to see der so debilitated. I will always remember the first time I saw her on one November Wedsday service in 1972. I knew on that day what a gifted woman she was. She shared the platform with Gladys W, Gladys Riggs and Virginia Beasley. Life changes and moves on. New people now dominate the Salem platform, but no one will ever speak with the grace and poise that Mary spoke with. I shall always remember her with tenderness, love and with the respect she earned for so many years serving spirit. May God continue to bless her and her work that shall be done from the, "other side of the vail." Certainly her work is just beginning again with her old friends on the other side. I will always remember my friend and teacher with love and with the dignity she deserves. John Lignos

To Mary's Family and Friends.

Mary was a special person in our lives and a cherished friend her erthly presence will be missed. I have always enjoyed this poem from the Poet Mary Elizabeth Frye.

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush.

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

Peace be with you all in your time of need.
Love
Paul

As th poet, Rilke reminds us, "Things aren't all so tangible and sayable as people would usually have us believe; most experiences are unsayable, they happen in a space that no word has ever entered..." I join the family and friends of Rev. Mary Maguire in honoring her life and passing. I remeber Mary as a great teacher and tireless worker for Spirit. Mary gave the encouragement to develop music from Spirit. With her encouragement, I have been playing music for healing in Spiritualist churches in many different parts of the country for over 30 years. It was a great honor for me to follow in her footsteps as a subsequent pastor of the Swampscott Church of Spiritualism. She will be sadly missed by many. She will never be forgotten.
We were blessed for having known her.
