Jay's and my paths have been parallel and it has only been within the past year that I have had the pleasure of working with Jay at Alaska Airlines. I found Jay to be quite interesting and his "Damn the torpedoes" "Full speed ahead" take on life opened an avenue of admiration for him. Many times we discussed music and he gave me a run down, with pictures to show, of his prided guitar collection and his desire to locate a 'Hagstrum,' instrument, particularly one from a musician friend of his. It was not unlikely that on occasion, Jay would just bust out into a song and toss a few lyrics out because I think he was just feeling the moment! One particular day I came across Jay looking a bit tired and got it out of him that during the night he had awaken wanting to learn a song from Alvin Lee of 'Ten Years After'. The song "I'd Love to Change the World" had been in his head and he had spent most of the night trying to learn the chords to the song. The excitement he showed in telling the story leads me to believe that music was Jay's greatest passion, and it is clear that a career playing rock and roll would have fulfilled all his dreams....<br />I express my sincere condolences to Jay's family and will remember him fondly....
