I’ m the HR Manager at Baldwinville Nursing Home, and it was an honor and a privilege to know Leo over the past almost 7 years. As the HR Manager, it’ s my job to get to know the employees who work at this facility. However, having worked here for almost 20 years, I can’ t help sometimes but get to know certain residents who live here also. Every couple of years, a special one comes along that I form an instant attachment and friendship tou0014 and when I met Leo, something about him warmed my heart and made me want to u001c take him under my wingsu001d so to speak. We shared dialog about a great many subjects, Leo and I, despite his hearing impairment. Often, my hand would get tired of writing, we would carry on at such great length. I can only imagine the many friends he must have had in his hometown neighborhood and the socializing he must have done. He had an interesting life, and he loved to share stories about it. To me, Leo was a generous, thoughtful, polite, old-fashioned, and proud man. Sometimes I wish that young men today had the values that Leo did. But maybe I’ m old-fashioned, too, which is why Leo and I got along so well. I’ d like to extend my heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends during their time of sorrow, and I know Leo must be looking down on us right now having a nice cold beer and a big plate of ziti and meatballs!
