Obituary of Ellen F. (Carlin) Endslow

Ellen F. (Carlin) Endslow Peabody—Ellen Frances (Carlin) Endslow, 64, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, teacher, mentor and friend, passed away suddenly after a brief illness on September 10, 2012 at Union Hospital in Lynn, MA. Born on February 23, 1948 in Salem, MA and raised in Peabody, Mrs. Endslow was the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Eagan) Carlin of Peabody. A 1965 Peabody High School graduate, Mrs. Endslow received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Salem State College and a master’s degree in Creative Arts in Education from Lesley University. She taught in grades three through eight and directed more than 24 musicals during her 35-year tenure as a dedicated teacher in the Peabody public schools. Beloved by generations of students and performers, Mrs. Endslow spent many years directing and producing for local community theatres. She most enjoyed producing shows that starred her husband, Bill. With him, she co-founded and directed the Five Star Theater Company for 20 years in Reading, MA, where she also costumed numerous Reading Memorial High School drama productions. A lifelong mentor and friend to many, she inspired countless individuals to pursue their dreams. An avid traveler who visited every continent except Antarctica, Mrs. Endslow’s favorite locale was Walt Disney World, where she often took her niece and nephews. She will be dearly missed by friends and family, and will be remembered by a quote that was meaningful to her, “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.” By Winnie the Pooh. Mrs. Endslow is survived by her husband William E. Endslow III of Lynn, MA; sister Janet Bovio and her husband Al Bovio of Peabody; nephews Brett and Craig Bovio and niece Molly Bovio of Peabody; mother-in-law Marie T. Endslow; aunt Helen “Honey” Berry; godson Andrew Renshaw; goddaughter Kristin Pellegrini; many other cousins, nephews, nieces and friends; and loyal dog Franklin.
