I was so sorry to hear about Joe's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Joe at WCOP for 8 great years. I also went to Leland Powers School of Broadcasting with Joe. He was a "star" then. Everyone knew he would be a success. He landed a broadcasting job after just one year at the school and the rest is history. My sincere sympathy goes out to all his family. He was a wonderful person and will be missed.
Nancy McCoy

Dearest Sympathy to the McEneaney family and friends,
I flew traffic in the airplane while Joe and his amazing voice handled the downtown routes in the helicopter. On many occasion, I would hop into the back of the Bell Jet Ranger to get the Best view of downtown Boston. It was probably on one of these occasions that Joe and I discussed between the traffic on the 3's broadcast how we were probably related from the old country. He told me how when he was first starting out his career it was suggested that he change his name to an easier last name and hence "Joe Morgan" was born. My maiden name is McAnneny and it is easy to see how the pronunciation is similar and may have been just written down differently on Ellis Island.

It has been many years since I have seen Joe but I will always remember his ready smile, the wink in his eye and his zest for life.

Remembered Joy, An Irish prayer and blessing reminds me of Joe:

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I follow the plan God laid for me.
I saw His face, I heard His call,
I took His hand and left it all...
I could not stay another day,
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss...
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss.
My life's been full, I've savoured much:
Good times, good friends, a loved-one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don't shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow,
Enjoy the sunshine of the morrow.

Dear Family,
Joe was my friend and my mentor. I admired his professionalism in a difficulty industry. He was a truly a nice guy who loved his family and his work. Although we spoke only occasionally over the past several years, I always smiled when I heard his amazing voice on the radio. I will remember the joy he had for life and the joy he brought to others.

Dear Family, We just became aware of Joe's passing. I First met him when turning four years old as his neighbor in Andover. A friend, a neighbor, a groomsman 45 years ago.... We vicariously kept up with his exciting life by following his rather public presence. What a wonderful and fruitful life.
Please know that their are many folks out their who remember with fondness a friendship that was and remains timeless.... God Bless

Helen and Doug Edwards

I grew up listening to "Joe Morgan" on the radio. After living in CA for some time, I returned to the east coast and there he was, on the radio, giving the traffic report. Such a memorable voice! I was saddened to learn of his passing. May he rest in peace. - Mil in Methuen

We send our sincere sympathy to the entire McEneaney family. Over the years we listened to "Joe Morgan" on the radio & only learned a few years ago that he was your Joe. Neither of us actually knew Joe in high school --- but always knew who he was & which car was his! We know you will all miss him greatly.

I met Joe when I worked at RKO General in 1976 and 1977. I was the HR manager and Joe was a newscaster at that time for WRKO-AM. One of his colleagues was John Masters, whom I married. We both thought Joe was a pro and a classy one at that. When his voice turned up on WBZ, I was delighted to hear it again. I only wish his well deserved retirement had lasted longer. My husband died in 1998 of cancer after five years of retirement. God bless them both.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe at WRKO in the mid 80's. We had a great crew in the newsroom. Joe was my boss and you could not have asked for a better person to work with. We had a lot of fun and we had a common link. We all loved radio. Joe will be missed by all who knew him. My prayers & sympathy to the McEneaney Family

Ellen and Karen,
The neighborhood is a sadder place today. We have lost a good friend, and neighbor. We can't remember a time when Joe wasn't around. Heaven has gained an angel. We can't help but think that Joe was greeted with a "Hi ya Buddy" from his friend Carl.

I was honored to spend all those hours flying Joe around for his memorable traffic reports, over so many years. His booming voice still fills my head with trivia about our great cities. What a great storyteller. You will be greatly missed- my friend.

I have known Joe for most of my life, and have many wonderful memories that I will treasure. However, I will never forget the courage and strength he showed throughout his illness. No matter how bad it seemed to be, he never gave up. You will be missed by all who knew and loved you. Rest in peace Joe.
