Obituary of Emily C. Charter Hawthorn East

Emily Charter Hawthorn East, 91, of Saugus, MA and formerly of Lynnfield, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2013 at the Robin and Thompson Assisted Living in Saugus. She was the wife of the late John E. East. She was born in Holden, MA of February 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Andrew and Jane (Ross) Charter and was raised and educated in Rutland. After the death of her parents at the age of 2, she was adopted by Robert and Winifred B. Hawthorn. Emily had resided in Lynnfield for over 70 years until moving to Saugus two years ago. She had been a dietician at the NSMC – UnionHospital in Lynn for over 20 years prior to her retirement. She is survived by her son, Kenneth East of Peabody, a granddaughter, Cindy Choates and two great grandchildren, Alexis and Justin Choates all of Berkeley, California. She was the mother of the late Nancy Louise East Murphy. A Service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the family lot in PuritanLawnMemorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited and asked to meet at the entrance of the cemetery at 1:15 PM.
