Obituary of Jane I. (Ahearn) Liacos

Jane I. (Ahearn) Liacos, 87, wife of the late Peabody Police Officer Arthur D. Liacos, Ret., died at the NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Liacos was born in Salem, on June 3, 1926, daughter of the late James and Sarah (Connors) Ahearn. She was raised and educated in Salem graduating in 1943. She later pursued her education at Salem Sate College. Jane was employed for 20 years as a bookkeeper at Purity Supreme in Peabody and Danvers until her retirement. She and her late husband Arthur enjoyed vacationing at Province Lake in Maine, entertaining her family and friends, and especially cooking dough boys for her grandchildren. She was also very supportive of her grandchildren with all of their events, and really enjoyed a good game of golf. Jane is supported by 2 sons and 3 daughters-in-law, Peabody City Councilor Jim and Janis Liacos of Peabody, Dean and Lorna Liacos of Beverly, and Ann Liacos of Danvers; 5 grandchildren, Keri Liacos, Suzanne Liacos, Jimmy Liacos, Ryan Liacos and Jack Liacos; a great granddaughter, Lily; a longtime close friend, Fran Kaldes of Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Arthur P. Liacos, and her siblings: Jack Ahearn who was killed in action during WWII, Phyllis Roccio and Robert Ahearn. As per Jane’s request, her funeral service will be private. The family requested that in lieu of flowers, if you so wish, memorial contributions be made in Jane’s name to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, www.naaf.org , or to the Joslin Diabetes Center, www.joslin.org , One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
