Obituary of Constance "Connie" Lalikos

Constance “Connie” Lalikos, 85, of Peabody, died early Wednesday morning surrounded by family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Yianoula (Karydoyianis) Lalikos. She was a life-long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1946. She continued her education at Beverly Hospital School of Nursing and became a Register Nurse in 1949. She started her career as an obstetrical nurse as Beverly Hospital and then set up the Obstetrical Department at Hunt Hospital in Danvers where she met Dr. Rogale, who she eventually worked for in his private practice. In 1997 she began working at NSMC as an obstetrical nurse at the birthing center and as a Lamaze instructor. All of her patients and students knew her as Auntie Connie. Over her career, she helped deliver thousands of babies. In her own family she delivered and gave Lamaze training to three generations, and she was known to say each baby born in family “Looks just like me!” She was a member of the AWHONN nurse club. In her retirement she continued teaching Lamaze classes for many years. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Lalikos of Peabody and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, James, John, George, and Stephen Lalikos, Beatrice Polemenako, and Kanella Curebanas. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in CedarGroveCemetery, Peabody.
