Dina, Caroline, Nicole, and Frederick, So sorry about the passing of Fred and your dad. He was a wonderful and caring person. Loved being neighbors for most of our lives and good friends. Love the many great memories that go way back, when times were good. Wish I was able to attend the services but please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers, but mostly in my heart. Every time you think of Freddie, he will put a smile on your face. RIP Sergeant Howcroft and thank you for your service to our country. You were nothing less than a gentleman. Warmly, Debbie Lastih

Sorry to hear of your passing on, Fred. Jan and I pass on our deepest sympathies to Dina and the Howcroft Family. Also to Brian, Caroline, Crystal and Kaitlen Talbot who have been our next door neighbors for years. Fred and I were Navy Vietnam Veterans and used to talk about our service experience with each other on occasion. Fred stirred me in the right direction when I applied for my service connected disabilty. I will always be greatful to him for that help. God Bless you Fred, and "Godspeed," Brother.

Our deepest heart felt sympathy from our family to yours. I didn't get to USS Sutter County until 1969 but served onboard as main engineroom supervisor. A brother in arms is a brother indeed. May Gods love be poured out on your family during this time the the of grief and give strength to carry on. With much love the Lenhart family.

Fred was the first person I found on the TSL website which lead me to attend the reunion held in Portland, OR. I met Fred in person and was reunited with my (then)2nd class EN boss during my tour of duty aboard the Sutter County 1969 - 1970. I spoke with Fred numerous times on the phone. He was so helpful and pleasant to visit with. He will be missed. Heart felt condolences to his family and friends.<br>Donald Dotson EN2 USS Sutter County

Dear Dina: Although we haven't been in touch over the years, I remember our good times in high school. And it was sweet that our daughters became friends years ago. My heart goes out to you and your family in this sad time. I wish you peace in the coming days and trust that in time your tears will be replaced by smiles as you recall your happy memories.
