Obituary of James R. "Jim" Butler
James R. “Jim” Butler
SALEM—Jim Butler, 64, beloved husband of Karen (Pavenski) Butler, passed away on Saturday November 8, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed from this Earth with the comforting presence of his wife by his side. Jim and Karen just recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on June 2nd. Jim was so kind, and he was a man of integrity who loved life. The world was a better place with him in it; Big Daddy—bigger than life!
He was born and raised in Marlborough, son of Dolores (Coombs) Belmore and the late Bob Belmore. He moved to the North Shore when he met and married the love of his life, Karen.
Jim was quickly drawn to the sea where he loved to hike the coast with his family and American Bulldog Petey. Boating became one of his passions, and he enjoyed spending his Summers with family and friends at Liberty Marina’s Lee Dock on his boat Big Daddy.
Jim was employed as a Facilities Manager at Ebsco in Ipswich for the past 20 years. He loved working there, and he will be missed by all. He had a brilliant mechanical engineering mind and he was gifted and talented in the trades. He was amazing! He also enjoyed working on his son’s 454 SS truck and the 1970 El Camino that he restored for his “Angel Boy”, grandson Aiden.
Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Pavenski) Butler of Salem; his mother Dolores Belmore of Marlboro; son and daughter-in-law Bob & Jen Pavenski of Salem; daughter Tiffany Bouvier of Northboro, and son Brandon Butler of Marlboro; his siblings, Rae Stott and Chip & his wife Adriana Belmore all of Marlboro, Robin & her husband Dave Furchin of Oxford; a beloved grandson Aiden James Pavenski of Salem and granddaughter Jessica Butler of FL; his sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law Judi Spinale of NH, Carole & Butch Anderson of Georgetown, Ed & Jeannita Walsh and Dennis Walsh all of Marlboro, Danny & Carol Walsh of FL and many nieces and nephews including Guy Spinale, Jr.; his Ebsco and Liberty Marina family, and his beloved boxer Harley. He was predeceased by his son James Butler of FL, his dad Bob Belmore, parents-in-law Adam and Helen Pavenski, and brother-in-law of the late Helen Withrow, Jim Dalterio, and George Stott.
