Obituary of Theodore Mandragouras

Theodore “Mandy” “Teddy” Mandragouras, 99, of Lynnfield and formerly of Peabody, husband of the late Joanne (Scangas) Mandragouras, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. He was a loyal friend to many, especially those in need. Teddy “Mandy” was born Itylos, Greece on the Mani peninsula. He moved to Peabody at an early age and grew up with his parents, the late George and Helen (Griveas) Mandragouras. He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Daileanes and her husband Charles of Lexington, his loving daughter and care giver, Katherine Mandragouras of Lynnfield, and his son George Mandragouras and his wife Jeanette of Peabody. He leaves his loving grandchildren, Stergeos “Steve” Daileanes, Martha Sevigny and her husband Thomas all of Lexington, and grandson, Jonathan Mandragouras of Peabody and his sister, Jennifer Pafford and her husband Tim of Fort Worth, TX. Teddy also leaves his great grandchildren, Christian, Noah, and Grace Sevigny, and Joshua and Braedan Pafford. He was predeceased by his sister Georgia Miragias and is survived by his sister Mary Psalides, his brothers Peter and his wife Vivian and Harry and his wife Joni. Teddy attended the Peabody School System. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a former employee of AC Lawrence Leather Company and the city of Peabody. He also was a life long member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church where he served on the parish council and was instrumental in the building of the educational center. He was also a member of the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945 and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Peabody. He will be remembered as a friend to all who knew him. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the St. Vasilios Handicapped Accessibility Fund, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
