Obituary of Thomas C Dever
Thomas C. Dever, 61, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening at the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Winthrop, he was the son of the late Clifford and Barbara (Chaffee) Dever. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School’s class of 1973, where he played varsity baseball and football. Tom then continued his education at Maine Maritime Academy where he received his degree in Marine Engineering, class of 1977. During his time at Maine Maritime, his athletic endeavors out-shined and Tom became captain and quarterback of the academy’s football team. Upon graduation from college, he then earned his MBA from Northeastern University in 1991. He was later recognized by Maine Maritime for his personal and professional achievements and his name was placed on the distinguished 'Wall of Honor' in 1998.
Thomas was President, CEO, and part owner of Hayes Pump INC of West Concord for many years. He was known by many to have a dry and witty sense of humor, a passion for golf, and a great love for his family.
Besides his wife and best friend Becka, he is survived by his three children; Kiley and her husband Thomas Galvin of Newburyport, Hillary Dever of Boston, and TJ Dever of Danvers. His brothers, James and his wife Barbara Dever of Plaistow, NH, and Jack and his wife Lisa Dever of Sugarland, TX. Also, his sister-in-law, Dian Pantapas of Danvers and his brother-in-law Frank and his wife Rosemary Anastosopoulos of Peabody, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the son-in-law of the late Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Anastosopoulos of Peabody.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Friday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Expressions of sympathy can be made in his name to the America Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.
