Where to begin? The first time I met Bob I thought about how much he reminded me of my grandfather and uncle. You could see the light in his eyes when he spoke about being a medic on the front lines and how proud he was to be an American, Service Man and "Old Yankee"an, as he used to put it. When I think about how some of his stories made me laugh no matter how many times I heard it over the years. My husband and I still tell of his story of the "Wong Wink" and laugh as hard as we did the very first time we heard it. I remember the first time I met him and gave him my big Italian welcome hug and kiss, I thought he was going to fall over...lol, telling me he wasn't "that type of guy". Well guess what? He did get used to it and I will miss giving that "Old Yankee" a big hug and kiss. He left wonderful memories and stories.

Dear Pat, Amy and Beth,
I send my sincere condolences to you all at the loss of your husband and Dad. He was a one of a kind guy who was his own person with a strong commitment to Family, country, church and friends. I have very fond memories of my times with your family watching fireworks, looking at Christmas lights, gathering at your house (Halloween was my favorite) and listening to his Limericks which made me laugh so much I cried! He adored his dogs, Shamus. Rogue and Magic all his buddies. These last years have been tough on all of you and him as many of his capabilities changed. It is a difficult journey for all involved. He is at peace now being an Angel in heaven with a devilish grin watching over you. I will keep you all in my prayers as you mourn your loss. God Bless!

Dear Amy, Beth & Pat,
I am so very sorry for your loss. Where do I begin? I just want to share my memories and impressions of Bob. I guess I met him when I was maybe 13 or 14 and one of my first memories of him was that he put ketchup on his pasta which seemed insane to me having an Italian father! But, that is exactly who Bob was...he marched to the beat of his own drum. He was a character and always brought a smile to my face. He loved to talk and so did I! He talked about history, politics, Korea. He adored his dogs and loved going to breakfast in his American made vans where he listened to baseball and Howie Carr. I always recognized his van driving around Lynn by the "Mr. Ice" vanity plate which always made me chuckle. I spent a lot of time in the old van and the new van that became the old van headed to the Waltham rink, the Melrose pool or some Hanson family adventure. I think I spent more time with your family than my own as a teenager! I mean I did have my own bed and toothbrush there! And sadly it probably took until now for me to realize how fortunate I was to have known Bob. He did enjoy simple things and it was not that he was simple, he was traditional and that is what made him so special. He loved his family, his country and his church. He loved being industrious. He never hesitated to tell us that his generation was harder working or just outright better than the younger ones! Bob was always working either at the rink, the pool, the church, the house, the yard. Years later, I became accustomed to seeing him out there working at the church on something and reading his messages whenever I drove by on Lynnfield St. I was lucky enough to have bumped into him several years ago as I was walking by one day and we talked about politics and his new dog. It was as if no time had passed at all. He still brought me smiles and laughter. At some point I realized time may have caught up with him when I no longer saw him outside the church fixing something or mowing the lawn as I drove by. I knew the messages were no longer his and it made me sad. As I am remembering Bob now although I am saddened, he is still bringing a smile to my face when I think of his humor, his energy and his unique personality.
