Obituary of Janet L (Fairborther) Munnelly

Mrs. Janet L. (Fairbrother) Munnelly, 73, of Nahant passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, October 13, 2016 at North Shore Medical Center Salem Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert J. Munnelly with whom she shared 3 years of marriage and the late John “Jack” Kelly with whom she shared 28 years of marriage. Janet was born February 16, 1943 in Natick. She was the daughter of the late Raymond A. Fairbrother, Jr. and the late Priscilla (Ducey) Fairbrother. Janet grew up in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School in 1960. She moved to Nahant in 1969 and remained there for the rest of her life. Janet attended North Shore Community College and Salem State College. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Salem Housing Authority for 19 years and retired in 2003. After her retirement she worked for the Nahant Housing Authority and retired from this position in 2011. Janet was a tireless and caring member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant. Janet loved her family and friends with all her heart. One of her favorite things was to cook delicious, feasts and gather everyone at her table. Janet enjoyed traveling abroad and in the U.S. One of her most loved places was right at Tudor Beach in Nahant. You could find her most summer days in the sun in a beach chair in the sand. She also loved her gardens and feeding the birds. Janet loved to be beside the ocean and look out upon it. Her grandchildren were her most cherished gifts of all. She will be missed immensely, but she will be remembered most for giving the best hugs in the world, the warm, delicious smells of her kitchen, her laugh, a strong, hearty full of life laugh and her sense of humor and her warm, giving spirit. Janet is survived by her three children Coleen J. Shaw and her husband Donny of Peabody, Shawn Kelly of Gloucester and Cathleen J. Johnson of Duxbury. She is also survived by her blended family Christopher Munnelly and his wife Laurie of Peabody, Robert Munnelly and his wife Joan of Wellesley, Daniel Munnelly and his wife Colleen of Nahant Sean Munnelly and his wife Nanci of Litchfield, NH, Kevin Munnelly and his wife Marie of Swampscott and Donna Rosso and her husband George of Elliott, ME. Janet is also survived by her brother David Fairbrother of Murray, UT, her sisters Jill Davis and her husband Daniel of NC, Joyce Fairbrother of Derry, NH and Joan Fraser of Bath, ME. Janet will be missed by her seven grandchildren Kate, Mary, Jake, Cory, Emma, Donald and Nolan her 15 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her late sister Jean Lebro and her brother Donald Fairbrother. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Janet’s Memorial Visitation in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4-7 PM. Her Funeral will be on Thursday October 20, 2016 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Nahant at 10 AM. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery,
