Obituary of Edward Albert Cole

Edward Albert Cole, 75, of Topsfield, died Friday February 17, at Care One at Peabody following a brief illness. He was the husband of Millicent Bethune Cole. Mr. Cole, son of the late Edward P and Frances Whittemore Cole, was born in Memphis, TN on September 5, 1941. He was raised in Hinsdale, IL, spending his later childhood years in Western Springs, IL. He attended high school at Northwestern Military Academy in Lake Geneva, WI, graduating in 1960. He received a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of New Hampshire, graduating in 1965. He lived in Topsfield for the past 35 years, having previously resided in Illinois and New York. Edward had been a manufacturing Sales Rep for many years until 1984 when he started and operated his own company, Lightning Bolt and Fastener, until his retirement. Edward had an interest in creative writing. He was fascinated by science and was an ardent reader of science fiction. He enjoyed sports, was a golfer and an avid fisherman. Besides his wife, he is survive by three children, Aimee B Cole Iriso of Oakland, CA, Jonathan E Cole of Redondo, CA, and Emily D Cole Oudomsouk of Cincinnati, OH, his three siblings, Farnum W Cole of Santa Barbara, CA, Richard P.I. Cole of Prescott Valley, AZ, and Caroline Phillips of Chapel Hill, NC. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Aitor and Eneko Iriso, Joshua and Christopher Cole, and Violet and Oliver Oudomsouk, and nephews, Jason Cole of Harvard, MA, Jeremy Cole of North Hollywood, CA and Benjamin Phillips of Durham, NC. At the request of the family, a private service and burial will take place later this year in Pembroke, NH. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
