Obituary of Richard F. Hartnett
Richard F. Hartnett, 89, of Peabody died Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Beverly Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Antoinette “Tonl” (Killalee) Hartnett who died this past January. He was born in Saugus, MA on February 7, 1928, the son of the late James P. and Anna E. (Ryan) Hartnett and was raised in Lynn graduating from St. Mary’s Boys High School in 1945. Richard entered the U.S. Coast Guard in 1946 serving in WW II prior to his discharge in 1947 and with the GI Bill was a graduate of Boston University. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 462 of Lynn. He was first employed at the General Electric Co, water works plant in Lynn and then became a program manager for Raytheon Company in Andover for 35 years before retiring 28 years ago. He and his wife then wintered for many years at Naples, Florida where he enjoyed playing golf there as well as at the Lynnfield MA Public Golf Course and was a director of the Ben Gay Golf League for many years. He also was an avid bowler playing at the Metro Bowl in Peabody He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony J. and Staci Hartnett of Derry, NH, his daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Charles Partaledis of Peabody, and Susan J. and Joseph Shepherd of Derry, NH, his daughter-in-law, Tonianne Bongiovanni and also his six grandchildren, Amanda, Stephen, Patryck, Richard, Ciara, and Alexis; his sisters, Anna Mc Cabe and Louise Piercey and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Richard F. Hartnett Jr, and his siblings, Edward, William and James P. Hartnett and Eleanor Coviello.. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Private Funeral Service for the family will be held later.
