Obituary of Jacqueline C Mahoney

Jacqueline C Mahoney, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died peacefully on Wednesday morning at her home with her family by her side after battling breast cancer with faith and grace. She was the devoted wife of John B Mahoney with whom she shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Girard) Pelletier. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1951. She has lived in Peabody for the past 57 years. She was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles and gardening, was a daily communicant of St. Adelaide’s Church and was a long-time volunteer there as well for many organizations and functions. She took special joy that several of her grandchildren were altar servers and eucharistic ministers. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Teresa Mahoney of FL, Kevin and Stacy Mahoney of ME, Daniel and Denise Mahoney of Peabody, and Byron and Joanne Mahoney of Peabody, her two daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Daniel Manitakos of Boxford and Alison and David Airan of IL, her sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Ralph Turgeon of Salem, and is also survived by her beloved 14 grandchildren, John and Lucia Mahoney, Eryn and her husband Stuart Boyle, Lane and her husband Cole Johnson, Sean and his wife Jessica Mahoney, Corey Mahoney, Troy and his wife Danielle Manitakos, Tyler and Daniel Manitakos, Laura, Colin, and Neal Mahoney, and Elizabeth and Connie Airan, and is also survived her four great grandchildren, Haylea, Lucas, Anna, and Paige and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Rene Pelletier, Mary Jane O’Keefe. Lorraine Murphy, and Claudette Gagnon. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to St. Adelaide’s Christian Service Fund, 712 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960.
