Obituary of John E. "Jack" Farley
John E. “Jack” Farley, 66, a long-time teacher and coach passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home on Plum Island after a long illness. He was born in Danvers, MA on November 13, 1950, the son of the late Danvers Police chief Edward B. Farley and his wife Catherine (Madden) Farley. Jack was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School and earned a B.A. degree from St. Anselm’s College with a double major in History and Spanish. He then earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. For many years, he was a history teacher and track coach at Bishop Fenwick High School. While there he was named in “Who’s who in American Teachers a number of times. His success as a coach earned him the honor of “Coach of the Year for the track and cross-country programs. He continued his teaching and coaching career at the Triton Regional High School prior to his retirement 3 years ago. Jack was an outstanding athlete who enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox and his favorite, the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed walking the beach at Plum Island and was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by his beloved family and his many friends, colleagues, former students and his track teams. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Rachel Farley of Peabody, his sister and brother-in-law, Erin and Jim McHugh of Peabody, his niece, Erin Lonergan and her husband Jon Lonergan of Plum Island, his nephew Kevin Farley and his wife Valerie Farley of Westford, MA, and his nephew Matt Farley and his wife Elizabeth Farley of Danvers. He also leaves his grand nephews, James and Matthew Farley and his grandniece Victoria Farley all of Westford, and his grand nephews, Thomas and Russell of Danvers. He also leaves his close friends Carl and Mary DiMaiti of Medford, Keven and Debbie Mc Carthy of Amesbury and Ed and Marie Kawzynski of Salem, MA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his aunt, Grace “Gar” Madden, his former wife Janice Farley and his good friend Bo Tierney. A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be private on Saturday.
