Nell Mitkus was my best friend's mother since Cathy and I met in the fifth grade and continue to be friends all these years later. Nell and my mother, Rita Ranan, were friends back in the sixties when one would call the other to rush out to see the sky because it looked like a UFO might be in the stars. They raised us during a transitional time in history but always had each other's back. They would laugh and get excited by the prospect of everything new and extraordinary including UFO sightings.<br><br>Sadly, my mother is housebound now at the age of 94 and is unable to attend the service but both she and I will remember "Mrs. Mitkus" with love today and every day. Rest in peace, Mrs. Mitkus. You were loved by your family and friend strongly and passionately. Sending heartfelt condolences to Cathy, Karen, Larry and the relatives and grandkids who made her life better in recent years.
