Obituary of Dr. Vasilios "Bill" Poulos

Dr. Vasilios “Bill” Poulos, 90 died peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Peabody MA. He was of the Back Bay of Boston and Osterville Cape Cod, and was raised in Manchester NH. He played on the same baseball field as Jackie Robinson in the minor leagues, attended Saint Louis University Medical School, and served in the Korean War, returning to Boston where he trained at City Hospital. He specialized in the young field of radiology, taught aspiring physicians on clinical rounds, and later shifted outside the city to become Chief of Radiology. He was tall handsome and garrulous, with a character that charmed the staff and soothed the patients. He played tennis as much as possible, traveled the span of the world, and relaxed with films and books. Upon retiring he rode bicycles on the Cape, painted landscapes, visited the library daily, and played tennis in Fort Lauderdale. He survived numerous debilitating health conditions only to come back and resume the life he loved. He loved his wife and children and was omnipresent in their lives, constantly sacrificing sleep for family time, amidst a rigorous work schedule that he never complained about or even mentioned. He was the true essence of a man, a husband, and father. He had an adventurous drive for life, a bounding sense of humor, and a heart that coursed with love under all – and that is why he will be not only missed but loved eternally. He is survived by his wife Flora, his daughter, Valerie Poulos, his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Aaron, and granddaughters, Gabriella and Isabella, his son George Poulos and his partner Nancy, and many close nieces nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to the Osterville Free Library, 43 Wianno Avenue, Osterville, MA 02655. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Brooksby Village Chapel, 100 Brooksby Village Dr., off of Rt. 114, Peabody MA at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
