Robert K “Bob” Dombrowski, 82, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died early Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle against cancer. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Chmiel) Dombrowski with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Salem on January 6, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles J and Caroline F (Pydynkowski) Dombrowski. He was raised and educated in Salem and upon marrying his wife Pat, moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 60 years. Following high school, Bob enlisted with the United States Navy and served for 2 years before his honorable discharge in 1958 and was on reserve until January 1962. Bob was employed by the R.C.A. Boston for over 35 years as a cemetery worker and retired in January of 2000. Immediately following his retirement, Bob began his second career as an apprentice for the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody, a career that lasted over 20 years before retiring due to his illness. Bob also owned his own business, Bob’s Monogram, in which he did engraving and trophy making for the local little league, boy scouts and plaques for many of Peabody’s special events. Bob was also involved with many clubs and organization and served in many different capacities. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Leo Council 508 and later served as state district deputy and was an honorary life member as well. He also belonged to the Polish Legion of American Veterans. Bob enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was a member of the Gold Wing Association motorcycle club for many years. Besides his loving wife Patricia, he is survived by his son David Dombrowski of Peabody, his daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Chris Byers of Lowell, his sister, Camille Dombrowski of Peabody, his two grandchildren, Felicia and her husband Timothy Scouten and Michael O’Grady and by his great grandson, Gunnar Robert, and by his many dear friends. He will dearly be missed by all. The family would like to thank the nurses from Care Dimension Hospice, Erin Barker and Liz Rivas for their comforting care. A private family service was held with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery Salem. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA 01923.
