Obituary of Cynthia L. Mallia
Peabody – Cynthia L. “Soterea” Mallia 66, wife of George Arvanitides of Salem and the late Steven G. Mallia Sr., died Monday, July 20, 2020 at the Beverly Hospital.
Born in Nashua, NH, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Dunbar) Gendron. She was raised in Danvers and graduated from Danvers High School, class of 1972.
Cindy had been employed for many years as a bookkeeper for the family business, Peabody Oil, until the time of her retirement.
A resident of Peabody for the past thirty-six years, she was a member of the Daughters of Penelope and a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. She was an avid quilter but most of all, she was a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Gary Diotte and his wife, Nikki and Steven Mallia Jr. and his fiancé, Michelle all of Peabody, eight grandchildren, Isabelle, Joseph, Leo, George, Gavin, Laina, Ava and Riley, her siblings, Debbie Nurse of Greely, CO, Michael Gendron of Beverly, Sam Gendron of Salem and Christine McCarty of Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Friday, July 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 CHURCH STREET, Peabody, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
