Obituary of Peter M. O'Connor

Peter M. O’Connor, 76, of Peabody died on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Diane (Spofford) O’Connor with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Peter was born in Lynn, MA on May 10, 1944, the son of the late James and Lucille (Lebrasseur) O’Connor and later moved to Peabody graduating from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School. He then enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he served in the pre-Vietnam era prior to his discharge. Peter had been a member of the Improper Bostonians Band as a lead guitarist and singer for eight years and made the billboard charts with their hit song, " How Many Tears," at the same time being the featured band at the Ebb Tide in Revere. He later worked as a machinist in the air craft engine division for 21 years at the General Electric Company, River Works Plant in Lynn before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed working outside in the yard and playing the stock market, as well as taking trips to Cape Cod, listening to music and collecting model cars and sports memorabilia. He was a man of faith. He was a big Patriots fan and enjoyed getting together with his buddies to watch the football games, but most of all; he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Diane, a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Caroline O’Connor of Irwin, PA, his daughters, Kelli Prucnal and her husband Mark of Murrysville, PA, Sarah Emack and her husband Dan and Katy Poole and her husband Josh all of Peabody, his ten grandchildren, Pete O’Connor Jr., Peter Habib, Caroline O'Connor, Mark Prucnal Jr., Shane Prucnal, Jacek Prucnal, Cameron and Allyson Poole, Evangeline and Rosalie Emack, an Aunt, Kathleen Hagan of Peabody; two brother-in-laws and three sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James O’Connor and Lorraine (Birmingham) Stone. A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 6,2020 at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
