Obituary of Gus P. Angelos

Marblehead – Gus P. Angelos 83, husband of the late Marie (Dallas) Angelos, died Monday, January 11, 2021 at home following a long illness. Born and raised in Parkersburg, WV, he was the son of the late Pandelis and Barbara (Lambropoulos) Angelos. He earned a bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University, class of 1959 and attended Wright State University in Dayton, OH. Mr. Angelos had been employed for twelve years, supporting the Air Force in research and development in a laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB before being transferred to Hanscom AFB to support the AWACS program where he worked until the time of his retirement following thirty-seven total years of service. Gus had a great love for music and was an accomplished violinist. He was the concert master for the West Virginia All State Orchestra in 1954 and played for the Parkersburg High School Orchestra as well. He was also an avid photographer. He is survived by a daughter, Stacey Ward of Phoenix, AZ, a son, Steven Angelos and his wife, Amita Ghosh of Cincinnati, OH, three grandchildren, Anushree Angelos, Chris Gambrell and Amber Gambrell, a brother, Nicholas Angelos and his wife, Mary of Andover as well as a niece and nephew. ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral service will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. A private burial for family will take place in Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
