Obituary of Philip "Carbo" O'Donnell

Philip “Carbo” O’Donnell, 59, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at his home. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Kathryn (Nickerson) Donahue and her late husband Bartholomew Donahue. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody, attended Peabody Public Schools and was a graduate of St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, class of 1965. He continued his education at Merrimack College in North Andover and received his bachelor’s degree in 1969. Upon his graduation from Merrimack College, he started his working career for the Department of Defense at the Raytheon Corporation in Andover as an auditor. He has been with the Raytheon Company for over 35 years. He also was a member of the Elks Club B.P.O. E # 1409 and St. Michaels Society, both in Peabody. Philip also enjoyed horse racing and often traveled to the Foxwood’s Casino with his friends from the Elk’s Club. He also was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. Philip is survived by a nephew, Shawn O’Donnell of Peabody and by four cousins. He was the brother of the late David O’Donnell. His Funeral Service will be held on Sunday at 5:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 2:00 until 5:00 PM. Following cremation, a private burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
