Obituary of Joanne (Hockney) (De Sisto) Cappello

Joanne (Hockney) (De Sisto) Cappello, 67, of Peabody, Cape Cod, and formerly of Revere, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at her home. She was the wife of Lawrence Cappello of Mashpee and the late Albert De Sisto, Jr. Born in Winthrop, she was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor (Downes) Hockney. She was raised and educated in Revere and has spent the last 45 years living in Peabody. She worked for the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston for over 35 years as claims adjuster, retiring a few years ago. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and going to the beach. For the past few years, she wintered in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Family was most important to Joanne, especially spending time with her adoring grandchildren. Besides her loving husband of two years, Lawrence, she is survived by 3 sons, Thomas De Sisto of Ossipee, NH, Ronald De Sisto of Gloucester, and Kevin De Sisto of Peabody, a daughter, Laura Karcher of Gloucester, a brother, Richard Hockney of Lynnfield, her twin sister, Jeanne LeVasseur of Saugus, and her 3 adoring grandchildren, Shailyn, Serene, and Frankie De Sisto. She was the mother of her late infant son, Kenneth De Sisto and sister of the late George Hockney. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
